A Musical Collaboration - Part 1

The images within this gallery were created to accompany a musical performance based on the Soviet composer Dimitri Shostakovitch.

This musical piece, directed by David Adams, and performed by John Telfer and the Bristol Ensemble called "The Joker in the Pack" took place at St Georges Concert Hall on Great George Street, Bristol, in March 2010.

Painted on calico, the images are designed in the Soviet Constructivist style of painting prevalent during Shostakovitch's early years as a composer. Projected onto a screen behind the orchestra, each image acts as a visual narrative.
