A commission usually takes the following course:
1. I agree subject, size, medium, deadline and price with the client. I charge an additional standard 20 % to cover for costs and time.
2. The client then specifies location or subject and possibly provides photographs. Thorough subject research may reveal opportunities and alternatives.
3. I work up a preliminary sketch revealing my own semi abstract non-representational style ideas which I send to the client on a jpg scan. Colour pallet and any other changes can be discussed before client’s approval.
4. I then begin work as soon as I receive payment for costs and a 30 percent deposit. I photograph every significant stage, namely preliminary sketch, under-painting and finished painting.
5. On completion I send a jpg photograph for final approval. We then arrange balance of payment and provide the client with a print of all documented stages which I call the lifecycle of the painting
